You might be surprised to learn that casinos have existed on our planet for almost 400 years. Gambling and passion for gambling today attracts people to gambling establishments just as much as they did centuries ago. That’s why some of the oldest casinos still work today.

1. Casino di Venezia in Italy


Established in 1638, the Casino of Venice is the first casino not only in Venice, but also in the whole world. It still holds a leading position in our time. 2. The Casino de Spa in Belgium


The Spa Casino was founded in 1763 and added a ballroom and theatre in 1769. During a fire in the early 20th century it was almost completely destroyed, but a new casino building was erected on its foundations in 1929.

After reconstruction in 1980-1981, the casino returned to its former glory. It has several rooms for events, games halls, a library and a cultural centre.

3. Kurhaus of Baden-Baden in Germany


This is the most famous sight of Baden-Baden, where Dostoevsky once lost all his property, his and his wife’s. The oldest part of the building was built in 1834 by the famous architect Friedrich Weinbrenner. Later, two wings were added to the casino and a walking park was surrounded.

The Courhouse has 2 parts: an ordinary casino and a hall with slot machines. Casino halls are made in the style of French castles of the XVIII century.

4. Casino de Monte Carlo in Monaco


Charles III and French financier François Blanc decided to make the rocky area a fashionable resort for the high society and found a casino in Monaco. During the First World War in 1917, the Municipality of Campione d’Italia created the Casino d’Campione to camouflage spying. The building was designed by Amerigo Marazzi and the interior design by Girolamo Romeo.

7. Flamingo Casino in the USA


The casino was founded in 1946 by the famous gangster Bugsy Siegel and was named after his girlfriend, whose figure resembled a flamingo silhouette thanks to long slender legs.

The halls of “Flamingo” have a special atmosphere, and he has an unimaginably stylish and unique appearance. This casino has its own tropical garden with a contact zoo, waterfalls and an artificial lagoon, a gambling area of more than 7000 square meters and a total area of 16 hectares.

8. Tropicana Casino in the USA


After protracted construction and financial problems in April 1957 in Las Vegas Strip Ben Jaff still managed to open the casino “Tropicana”. 10. Casino Circus Circus in the U.S.


Casino “Circus, Circus” in Las Vegas is one of the biggest gambling establishments in the city. It is owned by MGM Corporation. Its opening took place on October 18, 1968 under the direction of a famous businessman Jay Sarno. “Circus, Circus” was one of the first casinos for family holidays. It was planned that while parents are gambling, their children can have fun in the circus.

In 1997, the complex was modernized, and elements of the Circus du Soleil appeared in its decoration. On a large sign at the entrance visitors are greeted by a welcoming clown, and the very shape of the building is similar to a glass dome of the spiteau, under which there is a park with an area of more than 20,000 square meters. Free circus performances are held all day long.
